Zapruder Frame 2

Zapruder Frame 2

Previous: Frame 1 — Next: Frame 3

Frame 2 is the same scene as Frame 1, but the colors as darker and richer. Perhaps the first frame experienced overexposure, but the colors are quite beautiful in this frame, with almost a feeling of a painting. The “Purse & Co.” text is in high contrast on the building and is clearly visible. The people all seem intently focused on what is coming after the first motorcycle. The crowd does not appear to have moved much.

This frame still shows a relatively tranquil scene—Kennedy’s limousine hasn’t yet entered the camera’s field of view. Instead, Frame 2 primarily captures the landscape of Elm Street in Dealey Plaza. The focus is on the greenery, the curb, and the concrete pedestal in the foreground, where Zapruder was standing just above. It is essentially a transitional frame, part of the film’s “run-up” as Zapruder was still settling into position and beginning to track the motorcade
