Black Patch Analysis using 6K scans of 317, 321, and 323

Starting with frame 317 above, the 6K scans of frames 317, 321, and 323 reveal an intensely deep black shade contrasting sharply with the rest of the back of JFK’s head. This black tone aligns with the standard “reference black” used in film calibration. The dark patch appears irregular in shape and shifts position across the back of JFK’s head throughout the series.

Here is frame 317 even more blown up also displaying the dark patch almost in the shape of a trapezoid.

In this blow up of frame 321, the dark patch seems to have enlarged to cover a greater portion of the back of JFK’s head.

In this blow up of frame 323, the dark patch seems to have shifted slightly again.

This slide presents a side-by-side comparison of the degree of density of the black on the back of JFK’s head versus the back of Governor Connally’s head on the same Zapruder Frame.
